Message	The closest thing the California Legislature has is SB 1489 Perata. It authorizes a peace officer to arrest the driver and impound the car for 30 days. Then it says, in Section 1, Subdivision (5), "The vehicle shall not be sold prior to the defendant's conviction." To me, your car will be sold after you have been convicted. LINK TO LAW
